Default New member--questions about 97-02 gen

Hello all. New to the site. I have an '03 sedan and while I've not been terribly happy with it, I'm looking to buy another accord from the previous gen. I've seen bits and pieces on the web about tranny problems throughout that gen. Any bit of advice or configurations I should avoid? Also, does anyone know what the first year was that included rear deck child safety seat tethers? I think most vehicles got these in 2000 and then the full LATCH systems came in 2003.

Thanks!

I would avoid any one that is an automatic, the V6s especially. I personally wouldn't even risk it, there have just been too many horror stories of replacing the tranny 4 or more times over a relatively short period of time.

Sure there are some people that have them and never have a transmission problem, and probably more are fine than not; but to me its just not worth the risk. If you know how to drive manual, I would find one in manual.

Thanks, that's good advice. I did assume that the V6/auto config was bad as I've seen suggestions of that before. I am hoping to get a 4 cyl manual (that's had its clutch replaced already!)
