Hi, newbie to this forum, but not Hondas! Just picked up a bone-stock 1988 Accord LX with 91K original miles in really nice shape. Originally from Seattle, so very little rust for Chicago, well maintained and clean. Amazing how tight and quiet this 26 year old car feels and how well she handles. I'm going to track down and replace the couple of missing trim items, remove the tiny bit of wheel-arch rust and learn more about the carbureted models, so I can cure the cold-idle hesitation and keep it in good tune myself. Then it's off to see if she makes it to the 300K club in a few years! Sweet, sweet cars...

Yes, guilty as charged . I love the little 3rd gen (86-89) Accords. I've owned serveral in that range in many different trim levels and that.

My daily right now is an 89 LXi 2 dr 5 speed.

One thing to think about would be the timing belt. If you don't have documents of when it was changed last, consider it due. On these and many of the Honda's, it the timing belt breaks.....BAD things happen when valves meet pistons.
