Hey All!

I am new here and wanted to say Hi. I am excited to be here and am looking forward to trading tech info and ideas with you folks.

I have been an Audi and VW guy for about 15 years. I just picked up an '07 Accord EX-L, thanks to a drunk w/o insurance.

Originally, I was looking for another Audi, but when I stumbled across the Accord, I was amazed at how well it drove! Don't get me wrong, the A6 is a good car, but the Accord certainly feels much more connected to the road and the transmission does all the right things. It reminded me of the Audis I drove when I lived in Germany. Even my BMW driving dad was startled how well the car feels.

It is a couple years older than I was thinking of, but it came with records and just had a major service done at 90k (T-belt, Oil, AFT flush) so it was really affordable and the deal made sense being in the bind I was in.

I also do all the work on my cars, including T-belts, fluid changes, even cam seals, etc. and I am looking forward to learning how to do it all on the Honda.

I am also excited about being active on this forum as I have been on the VAG sites. As such, does anyone have any Honda advice, warnings, praises for a new guy to listen to?

I have already done a couple minor mods, and will try a couple Audi/VW tricks on the Accord to see how they work. it's non-turbo, but I think a couple VW mods look like they will be fun here as well!

Thanks!

Mark

Mark, welcome to HAF.

Maint advise....well if the 90K service was done then you should be fine for a bit. Not sure how it is with VW's....but Honda's don't seem to take to Non Honda PS and Auto Trans fluid.....so keep that in mind.

Thanks for joining

Thanks!

I have heard they can be finicky if you use the wrong fluid. It has been done recently, so I figure my twice yearly drain and top off will keep the fluid in good shape.

Is there a drain for the PS? I have "changed" it in the past by siphoning the tank out and topping it off. I would think a drain plug near the the rack would get more crud out of it.

I don't think there is a drian on the rack. There is a small screen type of filter at the bottom of the PS res. Very rare that it gets clogged but does happen. Most of the time if you keep the fluid fresh - suck as much of the old fluid out of the res as possible - you will be fine.

If that screen does get clogged, some have removed the res and cleaned it others just bought a new res that comes with the screen.

Either way, not something to worry about....keep the fluid fresh is the best thing.
