Should I buy a 99 Accord?
Hi, I am new here, infact, I have never even given a thought to buying a Honda until now. I just sold my 2003 Chevy Silverado because of gas and also because I didn't want the payment anymore due to me getting out of the military and not having a full time job. (college full time)
I was doing allot of reading up on cars, and I was going to get a Mazda3 but they are to expensive, I wanted to keep my price range under 7 thousand.
Well I was looking through the classifieds and I saw an ad for a 99 Honda Accord- 4dr, 5 speed, Silver, 17' alloy wheels. 92k miles, and in good condition. I was doing some research and from what I read the reliability is great!!!!
What do you guys think about this, is it a smart move on my part. They are asking 5,500. I want to talk them down a few hundred or a thousand.
Are there any issues with this car?
Thanks...

RE: Should I buy a 99 Accord?
I got my '97 for 5k. With 128k miles. Car runs well. I think it swallows up gas pretty quickly but it has alot to do with how i drive.
I would say go for it!! I love my Accord! But let it be something you are very sure about. I wish i would have waited or shopped around a little more, find a deal like urs. Approve of how it runs too. Look at all the things you want in a car before you buy.

If it is an LX, EX, or Special Edition, JUMP ON THAT DEAL[sm=proof.gif]!!!!
If it is a DX, however, you may be able to knock a few hundred off.One bigdifference is the DX does not have the VTEC engine as the LX, EX, & SE have. VTEC = 150hp, Non-VTEC = 135hp
I paid $5,500 for my 2000 LX 5spd 4 door with 104k and Iwas quite proud of myselfon the deal I got (the dealer was asking $7k for it, he was quite rude about the negotiating process, but he eventually came down to my price.)
Do keep in mind thatwhen the car reaches104k miles you will need to get the timing belt changed.
The gas mileage is nothing short of awesome. I get 32mpg on average in the CITY. Iget about the same on the highway.
