What is the dump tube for anyways on the Wastegate i dont see any of the ppl installing a turbo has mention it ... and do u think if i set up the turbo and run it with out the downpipe the car could go like 1/2 to 1 mile to a muffler shop n make me down pipe ? dont have anymore ideas on the downpiping ...

 

The dump tube goes onto the external wastegate and re-routes the hot exhaust gases either back into the exhaust system or out like a second exhaust pipe. Pretty much it just keeps those hot exhaust gases from heating up the engine bay and making it smell bad. Ideally it would have a seperate exhaust pipe and muffler.

 

hmm so if i left it open without the use of the dump tube the hot exhaust air is going to leak out ? and i have to get that weld to the downpipe ?

 

if you don't have one it's going to dump a bunch of exhuast into your engine bay, so lots of hot/contaminated air into your intake as well as going through some of your vents, just not a good idea, so either run it down under the car or just have it go into the exhaust pipe somewhere...

 

all things considered, the wastegate isnt going to dump the exaust into the intake, and even if it does it wont really really harm anything by going into the intake, havent you ever heard of a warm air intake? people have actually set up cars to reroute half the exaust system back into the intake the concern is more for the vents ^_-
