1989 Accord LX oil leak at filter?
My 1989 Accord LX has a oil leak close to if not at the filter. I will be removing the filter and replacing, is there another possible spot for the oil leak? A plug, sensor, oil filter mounting plate, or something else I should be looking for? I've replaced the valve cover gasket and have noticed oil dripping off the top edge of the oil pan and some oil running down the body of the filter. It's hard to see as I have the car on ramps and crawling around on gravel.
In my county of Prince William we have emissions inspections and they won't pass the car with oil dripping on the exhaust.
Thanks for any help.

I looked at my 86-89 Accord manual and the filter base appears to be a part bolted to the block for mounting the filter. In this case, removing 3 bolts should remove the filter base allowing replacement of seal. I would confirm availability of seal before accessing.
I have seen other designs (Acura TL) where the filter assy has an oil filter mount base that is bolted to the block w/ an oring filter beneath the base.
In the case of above-mentioned TL, it was a notorious leak site and I had to remove/replace gasket to remedy leak.
good luck

Thanks all,
After putting the car up on ramps and getting ready to replace the oil filter adapter gasket, the oil filter spun off in my hand. I replaced the oil filter, lucky I had one around, wiped all the access oil off of everything I could find I started the car to warm everything up.
No leaks, turns out the oil filter was just loose, it's been replaced and all's good. But I do have a oil filter adapter gasket (only $1.99) for future use.
