??..\vehicle conversions/..???
Hi,
I am new to this sight so i apolgize if I am not following proper protocal. I have owned a 1996 honda 2.4Laccord ex for 8 years. It was a great car for me when I was in college andI still drive it3-4 times a week to and from work for gas mileage and to keep miles off my truck. Itis still astough as it was when I bought it 100,000+ miles ago. I cant do that engine any harm,,, I have alwaysdogged this car and it keeps going begging for more. Wonderful car I will never get rid of it. I want to know if anything off of a 2003 accord V6-not exactly sure the model but it was a pretty sporty looking- would covert to the 1996. Just at a glance it looks like alot of the body clips would match up. I am really interested to know if the hubs would convert, or if there were a fairly inexpensive way to convert my 4 lug bolt pattern to a 5 lug patternmatching the2003 pattern. I know this is prolly a long shot, but what about engine-trans conversion?my sister has the 2003and managed tobend the chassis pretty bad and is not worthgetting fixed because it would be hard to get right,, but Icould offer her a 500-1000$ and prollytake it off her hands. Its prolly worth close to that at a scrap yard,, butthe stock wheels are pretty nice with brand new tires and the engine has less than 32,000 miles.
anyguidance would be appreciated,
thanks

RE: ??..\vehicle conversions/..???
1. 1994-1997 (5th generation) Honda Accords only had the F22B1 (2.2L VTEC), F22B2 (2.2L Non-VTEC), and C27 (2.7L V6) as engine options.
2. Body panels/bumper covers from a 2003 (7th generation) will not match up to anything on your 96.
3. Use the search link in my signature to search 4 to 5-lug conversion, you need knuckles and hubs from a 5th gen EX or Acura CL near 1996. You can also do a rear disc brake conversion, which has also been covered on here.
4. Engine swaps are possible, although I've never seen a K24 (7th gen 4 cyl) or J30 (7th gen V6) swapped into a 5th gen. Basically, swaps from different generations requires a lot of custom fabbing.

RE: ??..\vehicle conversions/..???
i've seen K24 swaps into a 5g accords, however they are very expensive and just generally not worth it. But he is talking about putting the J30 into a 4cyl engine bay..........which cannot be done without tons of work.

RE: ??..\vehicle conversions/..???
yeah there was that one 5th gen Accord with the 7th gen 4cyl motor swapped in, but it was done by Hasport so they prob. had the "good" help. there's def custom work to get it to work/fit. as for putting in the v6, i dont see it happening for "convenience". The hasport engine mounts alone are expensive for the k24!
a 5-lug swap is possible but have yet to hear of 7th gen knuckles being used though. so dont know if you can or not. People tend to use the 5th gen lude front knuckles and 1st gen odyssey rears.
