Cars Owned?
Kinda' thought it might be interesting to list the cars we've owned in the past...
Here's my list in order of purchase:
'56 Bel Air, '64 Dodge, '69 Karmann Ghia (new), '72 Impala, '74 Impala (new), '70 VW Beetle, '74 VW Bus (new), '75 Camaro (new), '86 Astro Van (new), '72 Cutlass, '70 Ford wagon, '80 Grand Marquis, '83 Chevette, '94 Accent, '96 Accord, 2000 Saturn, '98 Prelude, 2000 Caravan, 2006 Elantra (new), 2006 Magnum (new), 2011 Accord, 2015 Accord (new)
Wow... didn't realized that I had jumped around so much over the years. The Ghia and the Camaro were fun to drive, the Marquis and Magnum were terrific highway cars... however, I will rate the 4 Honda's as the best overall for service rendered and reliability
Plus, add in 2 Honda motorcycles... a '66 Dream and a '67 Scrambler.. both purchased new. Sold the motorcycles to buy the '64 Dodge when we were expecting our first child. That Dodge was a great car, 50th Anniversary model with a V8, bucket seats, console, sport wheels & performance tires.. Here is a pic of one that was similar to ours

Thanks to all who have responded and thanks for the comment, Poorman
Amazing how many different cars each of us has owned in our individual lifetime. I wonder what the national average is for Americans?
Interesting additional sub-topic, Jim... Parents' cars we've drove...
Let's see..
'59 Ford Country Sedan wagon
'54 Biscayne
'64 Galant (slant 6, push button transmission)
'65 Falcon convertible
'65 Falcon Futura (260 V8) <-- ran like a champ
After that, started buying my own

If you get a chance, I'd like to know what you think about the TLX. Trim, options, ect. I was too slow at pulling the trigger on a '14 TL SH-AWD 6 speed . The TLX only comes with an auto so I'm on the fence, I really like three pedals. I "think" I'd have fun with the AWD for the rare times I want to "throw it off in a corner/curve".

Poorman,
Before I purchased this Accord, I test drove a new TLX 2.4L (206 hp) 8-DCT with P-AWS. The handling was incredible... that 'precision all wheel steer' is top shelf. However, we (the dealership & I) simply could not get together on the bottom line

My list, while it goes back a way, doesn't include many cars. Only because I tend to keep them for a very long time when they're good ones. So, my first car, the first one I bought myself was a 1969 Impala I got from House of Hardtops in El Paso,Texas. It was white with a blue interior, two door, 327 with "3 in the tree" and the stiffest clutch one could find this side of a semi.
After the Impala I got a Mercury Capri. Similar in that it was also white, 302 Boss engine with a 4 speed and a blue interior. After that came a '77 Camaro that was a complete heap. Also white with a blue interior. Then a black half top Berlinetta Camaro that was also a heap. Then a car that comes along once in a life time. I was stationed in Germany at the time and came across a mechanics special in the form a Talbot Matra Murena. Probably the most interesting car I ever owned. It was a sports car, similar in shape to a Fiero only it sat three across. Side by side in bucket seats. It was wider than it was tall by a good bit. It was also wider at the rear than at the front by about a foot. It was a 5 speed, powered by a Chrysler 1.8L with twin carbs. It was also vacuum everything so it ran like it had a permanent vacuum leak. The pop up head lights were huge and looked like barn doors when you turned the lights on. It was British Racing Green (BRG) like a proper sports car, and it had a rust and cream hounds tooth interior that was popular in the early 1980s. It was an '82 if I remember right....haven't seen the car in 25 years. I sold it on to a fellow mechanic before I left for the US in 1990. Here is a representative image of it:
Mine had gold wheels and a front lip though. Otherwise identical.
After the Matra, I got back to the US and bought myself an '84 Z28 which I scattered all over the side of a mountain outside of San Jose. Mount Hamilton I think. I don't remember much about it though as it was a roll over, and the t-tops broke leaving my head to skip off the ground.
Once I healed up from that one, I got a 1985 300ZX Turbo that I kept from 1991 to 2007. Along with it, I got a 1995 Nissan XE Hardbody that I still own. There was a Pontiac Minivan in there when we were expecting my youngest son in 1997. Then a Suburban in 2003, which I still own. Then a Cadillac Concour DeVille that also still own. It, however is on the way to the wrecking yard as soon as I find the title. Sometime in 2008 we inherited a mid 90s V-6 Mustang. I put a lot of hours into it, and as soon as I got it where it was semi-reliable it blew both head gaskets. Then we got the '96 Civic my son drives in 2013 and finally my 95 Accord this year.
There were a number of motorcycles in there too. A CM250 Honda, and later a first year Kawasaki ZX-7. I learned a great deal about riding, riding fast and riding within my limitations on that bike. I got it in 1993 and sold it in 2003. A 92 GSXR-750 followed a year later, and I still have it. Then an EX-500 in 1997 that I recently sold. In 2002 we got a Yamaha YZF600R. After that, the next motorcycle I bought was an Aprilia Mille R in 2003. I still have that one too. And finally a 2004 GSXR-600 which we also still own.
So my garage currently houses a 1992 GSXR-750, 2004 GSXR-600 and the Aprilia Mille R. Outside there sits the Cadillac, the Suburban, the Nissan XE, The Accord and the Civic. All of them are registered and insured save for the GSXR-750 which has been under renovation for the last 10 years or so.....hey, I'm a busy guy!!.....sean
