Gas is $2.69 here in the Twin Cities. Just got back from Chicago where gas peaked at $3.74 and steadily dropped along I-90 through Illionois, Wisonsin and Minnesota.

I buy from Walmart also since its the cheapest around and also with thier CC and/or rechargable card, you save 3 cents per gallon. Do you think its worth it? it does give the 10% ethanol notice. So Walmart would be the best choice for the buck and results overall?

I buy from Walmart mostly cuz it's the cheapest around... Also, their gas is made from 100% USA oil, no importing from the large conglomerates... Duno if that matters to anyone...
Plus it's literally on the corner of our neighborhood, so it's dumb to really drive out o fmy way to get gas.
I've tried 9 different gas station brands around the metroplex since this thread started, and honestly I've only gotten about 10 miles difference in mileage. Not enough to believe it'll make a difference.
Tested: Walmart (Murphy), BP, Shell, Texaco (which is techincally Shell iirc), Racetrac, Conoco, Valero, 7-11, Chevron.
I have yet to try the other grocery chains to see what theirs is like (Tom Thumb, Albertsons, Krogers, etc).
I honestly thought Chevron would have yielded better results, but actually i've managed to get the lowest mileage so far from this tank I'm currently on.
I think I might re-do this test and get actual metrics; and I'm sure I could have been better about a steady driving pattern.

Gas (at least in northern VA) comes up a series of pipelines to two major storage/distribution depots located in Fairfax and Newington, VA. If you were to watch trucks going in and out, they all get their gas from the same "filling station". YOu will see Shell, Exxon, BP, you name it, all at the same place. Some companies add their specific additives to their tanker trucks, but it is all the same basic gas, from the same refinery.

With ethanol. it's give and take. While gas mileage may be reduced, emissions is also reduced, which of course is a good thing. I usually get gas at Wawa, Hess, or Shell, but I'm not above using no name brands if I have to, there just isnt too many in my area.
