Default H22A vs. F20B

im no rookie when it comes to hondas but i have no experience in motor swaps. ive been reading up on the H22A and all the qualities of it and also the F20B... ive really been leaning toward the F20B swap... thing is.... where can i get one in the states? and how difficult of a swap would it be??

The H22 is tried and true and readily available, replacement parts are also readily available.

F20B is harder to find(got my from hmotorsonline). Its about the same as a h22 swap to do, but if you blow or break something in a f20b it will be harder to replace than a h22. You can go to a Honda dealership and get any part for a H22, not quite the same with the F20B.

You can usually get a part of a USDM motor that will work(B16 rod bearings, F22 valves etc) but for say a headgasket, there is no other engine with the same one. If you blow a headgasket you will have to have cosmetic custom make you won, or order one from japan/singapore etc, so your looking at $200+ just for the gasket.

Also what a lot of people don't know is the F20B actually came in 2 versions, the 185hp automatic one and the 200hp manual one. Most importers don't mention anything about it on their site, so you are taking a gamble on which one you are getting. It is also very hard to tell which one it is without knowing what car it came out of.

At the end of the day I would probably get a H22(coming from someone that has owned both), they are cheap and easy to find, make the same amount of hp, and more torque, easier to fix. They just don't have the uniqueness a f20b does.

Also since your rocking a 95 you would have to do a odb1 to odb2 conversion with a f20b, where you could just get a odb1 h22 and its a direct swap... You can also get a h22 in an automatic as well from hmotorsports...They are both great swaps, but what you want out of them is going to be your dealbreaker...
