Default Honda OEM parts 4th of July Sale

Don't know if this is "legal" on this forum, but I just got an email form HondaPartsUnlimited(dot)com offering 10% off orders placed during this holiday weekend using promo code MERICA. I've bought from them before and they offer prices as good as or better than the other OEM dealers and reasonable shipping $$$.

Thanks; but, I just did a test price comparison with Bernardi Honda Parts and Bernardi was still lower in parts price and shipping costs compared to HondaPartsUnlimited with discount.

Bernardi also sometimes have seasonal discount, they had a summer discount that just ended June 30. A simple comparison I did was Bernardi (no discount) vs HondaPartsUnlimited (with discount).

Redbull, you're right, six quarts of DW-1 is $4 cheaper from Bernardi than Honda Parts Unlimited. Even with the 10% discount it's nothing more than a wash.

Edit: I was confusing two different dealers. HPU, the vendor with the 10% off promo this weekend, is in Phoenix. Another west coast dealer that I've bought from, Honda Parts Now, is in CA. Six quarts of DW-1 shipped to Denver:

HP Unlimited: $64.22 (without the 10% promo)
Bernardi: $59.00
HP Now: $51.91

It may be that HP Now is cheaper for us westerners, Bernardi for easterners.

Are you saying that six quarts of trans fluid is at best $51.91. That is ~$8.65 a quart.

Walk into a carquest auto parts store, or go online, and look up OEF 08200-9008 - $7.99 a quart, buy one or as many as you would like. Shipping, the gas it took to drive there.

Now I know you were using that as an example - I'm just using it as an example of what Ang was saying - if you have time, shop around.

EDIT: Just as I am doing now, I need a lock up solenoid for a 5th gen.

Yeah, I just used ATF for an example. I typically only buy seals from Honda, or weird stuff like wiper linkage. I'm a heretic: I use MaxLife ATF.

For the most part, many of larger on-line Honda dealers (e.g., Bernardi, Majestic, Honda Parts Now, etc.) are competitive. Shipping costs and sales tax can be a game change relative to where you live.

For example, if you live in California, depending on which county the dealer is located, the sales taxes can add about another 7.5% to 9% to the parts costs.

When comparing with Majestic, you also have to factor in the $4.95 handling charge that is added (the last few times I checked, it was $4.95 additional).

You have to shop around for best prices at any given time, as one dealer may or may not have a discount code available at the time you're ordering. In addition, the heavier weight of some parts greatly plays into increased shipping costs.

Years ago, guys on another forum were buying parts from Magauto, and some of the prices with shipping beat every dealer by quite a bit. Probably because Magauto was trying to get their name out there. I missed out when the prices were super low.

I don't limit myself to any one on-line dealer.
