Default How do you store chemicals in your car?

Hi,

I carry these in my car:
- Hand sanitizer
- Touch-up pen
- Window wash
- Bugstain remover

One day I opened the door and realized it was sooooooooo hot in my car.
I remembered the nighmare stories of exploding disposable lighters, and used the
hand sanitizerstored in the center pocket to test how hot it was.
Result? hot. Not burning hot, but it was not tepid.
Okay, since it's made of about 65% ethanol, so boiling point must be around 80~90C.
But evenif that is true, is it safe still?
It's just the beginning of summer here, I don't know how hot it's going to be in July...

How do you store them? Help a noob.

simple, when parked under direct sunlight, crack the windows, and use a windshild shade. and they have these new things, that clip on to your window that circulate the air, but to high-tech for me ha

I have a can of tire inflatable stuff in case you lose pressure. I wrapped it in a cloth, and put it next to my spare tire. Its cool there.

You could always take them out of the car.

Those are a ripoff. They don't work at all.

Crack the windows and get one of those windshield shades. That's what i do here in Mississippi. it is 100+ for much of the summer. it is in the 90's right now

I don't think any of the items you have listedwould become dangerous. Even the whole "lighter exploded" thing is kind of a myth (tested on Mythbusters) and pretty much found to be false. The gas will leak out of the lighter before it will explode. Unless you hit the lighter hard or something (I have had one blow up in my hand before when I hit it on something.) Or unless you have a defective lighter.I have had a Diet Coke explode before in my 95, but I'm sure that was because of how tightly sealed those cans are and the gases had nowhere to escape.

My Grandma was a smoker and lived in Arizona. If you leave a lighter in direct sunlight it CAN explode, I've seen it first hand. Aweome too, BTW.
