You don't have to throw it on the top part. I had one explode in my hand once from hitting it on the side. It actually did not burn me. It was cold, not hot.

All you do is put alum. foil in a 2 liter bottle and add The Works. Same thing as a dry ice bomb but IMO it is louder yet takes longer. It also emits awonderful cloud of white hydrogen so be careful of that!
