I am not the least bit surprised you have had bad experiences.

You been over to the UK rioting recently? ... OMG a moderator too , you are kidding surely? This has to be a wind up!

I have been to Florida several times, the driving standard is actually very good, hope if I ever go again I don't meet you coming the other way
I for one have to disagree with you here. While he may not be a legal driver, I'd bet the farm he's a better driver than the average person on the road. Through my own high speed adventures I have gained more situational awareness, better reflexes and I know my car's and my own limits better than the average driver. When I first got my car I pushed it to it's limits just to see how far it could go and since then I've pushed my own limits to see how far I can go, and it's made me a far better driver. I'd do 125mph down Columbia (a road in the industrial area here, speed limit 40-45mph) alone or with other racers almost daily at around 1am and it made me more comfortable with my driving abilities.

Any shmuck in the US can get a driver's license, it literally says nothing about how good a driver you are if you have a license here. Driver's education here is also a joke, my friend and I made fart noises and screamed all the way through that class back in high school and passed no sweat. The driving standard is crap in every state. Florida may be nicer for you because a lot of it is populated by senior drivers Over in some of the European countries they're far more rigorous about who does and doesn't get a license.

At 85mph I am far more careful and precise with my actions than I am at, let's say, 55mph (average speed limit in Oregon), simply because I understand what 85mph is and how I need to act when I'm going that fast. At 55mph people get lazy and comfortable with it. Let me quote Bannon from the movie The Gumball Rally: "Fifty-five is fast enough to kill you, but slow enough to make you think you're safe." This is the truest speed quote I've ever heard. I know 85mph is a dangerous speed, which makes me more cautious when I'm going that fast.

I'd personally feel safer driving next to g22cd5 than I would next to most of the drivers I've encountered out here.

Only if I were allowed to talk about street racing on the forums....then you wouldn't be so judgmental when you would lean how we do things.
We aren’t amateurs with mommy and daddy’s grocery getter on sat. night.
I really don't understand a word you said there apart from the last sentence. I do drive the shopping trolley quite often as I am a Dad (in fact I am guessing my 18 years old daughter is far more responsible when driving on the public highway than you, and certainly has more scruples if not quite as 'talented' as you seem to be. Mind you she does hold a UK driving license, so perhaps she is a far more accomplished driver than you, since you don't have a US license
I am pretty sure street racing in the USA is illegal. It is as such because it is driving too fast for the conditions and is damn right dangerous. Dress it up with your incredible talents as a driver if you wish, though in my experience people whom brag about such things are usually hopeless at it

You certainly know the standard of driving in the USA better than me, I have been fortunate enough to visit a good few US States and have not seen anything alarming, but I don't live there. I do drive in the UK, sometimes in my own 'grocery getter' and sometimes not. There is no excuse to race on the road. You have drag strips and race tracks, that is where 'road' (used loosely) racing should be done.
Are you even insured to road race? In the UK it is not only illegal but your insurance won't cover you. Even driving at 'normal' speeds it is not necessarily down to you that an accident occurs, what happens if you kill someone whilst strutting your racing talents on the public highway?

It is Venus and Mars I guess, I can't see why this stuff is posted on a public forum. I know racing (of some form) on the streets goes on, probably in every country in the Western world but I just find this unbelievable. :O

There's no such thing as being insured to street race. It's illegal. And no standard insurance will cover you for anything that may happen to your car even at an organized race event (autocross, drag etc.), so that's a moot point on insurance. They don't cover any of it.

In my three years of speeding down Columbia and the SE Columbia Way I can count on one hand the number of times I have seen someone cross that road, and none of them have been at 1am. It's an industrial area just north of the ghetto. No one is walking around down there at night because that's how you get mugged/killed. On the East end of Lombard I've never seen a single person outside of a car, night or day, in three years. Both spots are within a mile of Portland International Raceway, and guess who you find street racing? The guys who just raced on the strip. A lot of the guys you see at your sponsored events will be street racing right after.

An for the record I can get my license if I wanted I have choose not to get my back for my own reasons.

Also let’s get back on topic. IF the next post is not on topic I will close the thread.

Obvious troll is Obvious....

Anyway, I dont have ay speeding tickets on my record. I was pulled over once by a state highway for failure to stop at a red light. He did a 7 point turn to come after me which was ridiculous so he obviously was just meeting quota. Also, I didnt blow the red light. I was in the middle of the intersection waiting to turn and had to wait for another dude to blow the light so I wouldnt get t-boned. It was completely garbage and he did something more dangerous and illegal, but oh well.

i know this is sort of an old topic but i just joined so i decided to post mine anyway.

I have never gotten a speeding ticket *knocks on wood* but i have come close. i was getting onto the interstate to go home from work and got stuck behind people getting on the on ramp at 30mph so i backed off to give myself room to make a run for it when they got closer to the end. i floored it and went from the on ramp straight to the left lane. right after i got there i see red and blues in my mirror. i got back over to the right and pulled off. he said he pulled me over for going 83 in a 70 zone and for reckless driving. he let me off with only a ticket for an expired tag. at the time my house hold had 3 tags to renew in two months. we had renewed two of them and forgot about mine. i have gotten 4 tickets in 3 years. i have gotten pulled over a total of 10 times, 3 of those times i got tickets. 2 in one stop.
