Stupid. I can't stand Obama.

All it does it take weapons away from people who could protect themselves.

Well when I see laws being proposed by way of stirring up peoples emotions it waves a big red flag to me.
Yes it's bad that one kid shot another kid in detroit/chicago [whatever]. but does that mean the entire population should have idiotic laws imposed on them?
Like the PACT act, "OMG 7 yr olds are using their credit cards to buy tobbaco online"
Ummm, excuse me ?
How many 7 yr olds really have credit cards ?
Instead the real issue is that States want to retain their outrageous tobbaco taxes, and start the process of stopping internet sales to be able to collect more taxes.
Then after the emotionally charged people jump on the band wagon and push the law up over the mountain, and it's rolling down hill now at high speed, you start to see the 'proposed amendments' to the bill.
So now the PACT act might well pass into law, that "all consumables" will be illegal to import into a state. It will be illegal to bring any consumable into your home state?
This leaves a state free to .......impose a $10 tax per loaf of bread?
$15 tax per gallon of milk?
But hey it all started as a law for "the good of the children" [nudge, wink]

The national health care bills, another pet peeve of mine.
Yes I agree that changes need to be made in this nations heath care system.
Now it's been added in to the bill that members of the longshoremans union get tax exemptions, and everyone in America will foot the bill for Nebraskas medicaid.

It just seems that when they get a bill going thru the system that has raised emotional feelings among people, that is the one they will add in all kinds of sneaky last second changes.

here in illinois you need a FOID card to own a firearm. you cannot buy ammunition without a FOID card. i have over a dozen guns in the form of rifles and shotguns. i'm an avid hunter and enjoy trap and target shooting.

if they really wanted to stop people from getting shot they would make bullets harder to buy. you can't make all the guns in existence magically disappear. but you can make bullets much harder to buy. bullets are cheap and they are everywhere.

i recognize why the government and law officials want guns on record. i also believe we should be able to protect ourselves. break into my house, good chance you're gonna get shot. i'll be sure to make it count so i can testify you told me you were going to kill me and my familyl. just make sure you don't turn away from me so it looks legit.

on the other hand i don't like that guns and ammunition are so easy to get. i've worked hard to get where i'm at and have made responsible decisions to get here. i can produce legal documentation to make a legal purchase. yet any dipshyt easily can get a gun and rob me?

i'm disappointed that our legal system works harder to protect the criminals and punish the victims. we can't defend ourselves until it's too late. and our law enforcement can't do anything until it's too late. our system promotes crime.

if you're one of the "good guys" you should be able to get a gun and access to ammo. if you're one of the "bad guys" you shouldn't be able to.
