Below isa very nice amateurvideo made by a proud Yaris owner. It shows the interior and exterior of the car, as well as a short test drive. I'm now even more impressed with the little car.

Weird! I wonder why my buddies doesn't have a tach. Maybe the 4 doors have it and not the hatch? Or maybe they introduced it in 08?

Are you planning on getting one tony1m?

No, I am not. I plan on fully exploiting our 92 Accord's economic potential.Right now it is definitely the most economical, flexibletransportation available to us.

The one and only scenario in which we would buy another car is if we were involved in a wreck, flood, theft, or firethat totaled our car. Even in that case, we'd probably buy used rather than new, but these small cars don't depreciate that much in the first few years, so maybe we'd spring for a new one.

When it comes to buying a newcar, it's definitely "buyer beware" time, so the first thinga potential buyer should do is join an internet forum for the Yaris and start reading.

how would you know when to shift if you dont have a tach?

the placement of the instrument panel is really kinda weird but seeing as how small the steering wheel looks, it might be reasonable.

At a car show a few years ago I sat in a Saturn with the instrument binnacle in the center. Seemed really strange & I figured I would never get used to it.

I've driven lots of cars over the years with no tach;it's easy to figure out.If you're not going for all-out performance, you won't be running up against the redline anyway. Not everyone drives like a maniac all the time. If you do, this car isn't for you anyway.

if you drive a manual (which I don't) you can feel and hear when you need to shift. For that matter, look at a bike. The redline on my friend's Repsol is around 12-14k! Do you really think that is where he shifts it? Even racing, you'd kill yourself taking a bike like that up so high in the wrong gears!

Redline is what the engine CAN do, not always what it SHOULD be doing.
