Default Motorcycle Opinions

My friend's fiance wants to surprise him with a motorcycle and asked for my opinion. Her one criteria is that it is NOT a crotch rocket.

I was thinking something with a 750+ CC engine.

I am more familiar with Honda motorcycles. The two bikes that I was going to suggest are Nighthawk and Shadow. I have a 92 Nighthawk CB750 and has been a good bike.

Do you have any opinions on those two style bikes? Are there other comparable bikes from other manufactures that are better?

Also do you prefer chain or shaft drive?

I just wanted to get your opinion.

Thanks

I've kept it running for 230K miles (well 130K, bought it w/ 97K).

I have helped my friend modify and repair his car (Mitsubishi Eclipse). It is fun, but expensive. Between the cars that we own, I have done almost everything dealing with working on cars.

For now, I am keeping my accord stock. I would like to put an H22 in it at some point, since my engine is getting near the end of its life. As a grad student, that upgrade is out bit out of my price range right now.

Well, keeping it stock is def. a great way to save your money! I have put way to much money in my Accord! If you saw a blue 97 Accord this morning/yesterday it was me! I was in c/u catching up with a buddy and then we headed to the White Horse since Firehaus was PACKED.

Did you graduate from UofI?

On the list of the top 100 best value schools, uofi was 45, ISU was 86 and IWU (on a separate private list) was 92 or something. The only schools from IL.

A friend of mine owns the white horse. I live close to Neil St and State St. I typically don't go down to campus town anymore. I will hang out at places like the blind pig or the esquire in Champaign. The Office in downtown Urbana was my favorite bar in this town, but it closed down over a year ago. That bar was the perfect mix between graduate students and the locals in the area.

I got my bachelors in chemistry from Penn State. I will get my PhD in organic chemistry from UoI this semester. The hard part for me is finding a job. I had a job offer from a company in Pittsburgh (near where I grew up) that fell through last year when the economy tanked. There are not a lot of opportunities out there right now and I am very frustrated.

Cruiser, tourer or so-called sport-tourer? Distance, or just around town? Two up, or just one?

I will have to ask my friend's fiance to be sure, but from my guess:

Two up and relatively short distances. I am not sure about the difference between the cruiser and sport-tourer.
