You have to open the 360 which can void your warranty, it"s really hard to open and keep the sticker intact. Then you have to flash the DVD drive with a custom firmware allowing you to play burned games. There are are four different types of drives with four different methods of flashing. The newest drive (liteon) which is the drive that comes in all new xboxs for the last year and a half. Those drives weren"t moddble until decemeber. To mod those drives you have to buy a kit to read the key, in the future you won"t need it but now you do. The other three drives I already have what I need and I could mod your drive if it"s not a liteon if you want, and if you don"t are about your warranty too much. When this 360 dies I"m just going to keep it for parts and buy a new JASPER 360 that will actually last.

 

Noice... yeah... once I get rid of my red ring I wont care about warranty. I modded my old Xbox as well with all sorts of neat lights and a chip and everything, so this shouldnt be too difficult for me to do... I was just wondering what the method was.

 

It harder than modding an original xbox. The original you just had to solder, this all about software. Which I'm not really that great with, I can solder I just hate using DOS and all the crazy crap you have to do to mod the 360 drive. And if you do anythign wrong you can brick the drive.

 

Im not too worried about it... if I even do it...
but in the meantime...
