The Old Official OFF-TOPIC Thread Is Done
Dude chris don't do it to yourself. I had a clifford RSX 3.5 with all the add ons in my suburban, the motion detector was the most annoying thing. Wind for some reason and absolutely nothing can set it off. So it's going to randomly chirp every 30 minutes maybe less in your drive way. It used to wake me up at night, and **** me off. Really not worth it unless you leave your windows open. Someone whos jacking your sh*t doesn't care if the alarm is going off, they will be done before anyone gets their. My car alarm solution would be to mount a couple sirens and a big a** air horn in the cabin itself. And you can hide a small 12v motorcycle battery that it can run off in case they cut the battery. If you can't keep them out of the car you can't stop them...
It appears I did. I have heard excellent things about Compustar and Directed (Viper/Clifford/Python/Hornet etc.) alarms, not so much others.
Clifford got a lot better after Viper bought them in '06? So they are essentially rebadged, cheaper Vipers. Expect to shell out at least $200 and make sure you get a 2-way page alarm, it's been more than helpful. Install can run $50 to $200, unless you DIY, but that was probably the more complex wiring I've ever done.

I agree that a good theif or a fast theif that's been doing his homework will inevitably get what he wants, but the alarm keeps people away in parking lots and most general areas. It's for the peace of mind and my car looks pretty stock.
I would just relocate the siren to inside and switch the lock chirp over to the horn. That siren would not be pleasant in an enclosed space.
Give it time, you will find it chirping randomly. I thought it was the greatest thing for the first couple of months, I would leave my windows down going into gas stations with no worry, but it's not worth it to me. They still do it, every car at dade with a proximity sensor chirps randomly. I don't know if it was the wind, but it would do it most on windy days. But still randomly chirp from time to time on a calm day too.
I dont want to get raped by these local shops...I have an Autopage 2 way pager now,but i only use it when m home, partly because its a POS,and it leaves my parking lights on for 10 seconds whenever i arm,or disarm it. Other than that its w.e.,but i tend to use my oem alarm 98.9% of the time.
