Here the Accord is one of the top sellers. It's #2 behind the Toyota Camry I believe. I saw many Hondas in the UK but few Accords. It crosses all paths from the young person buying his/her first car, to the young couple starting a family, to old farts like me. It covers a broad spectrum of buyers and is synonymous with quality and reliability. If you are fortunate enough to acquire one actually made in Japan (see my J-Spec icon) you have a coveted piece of machinery that is the best of the crop.
Its one of those funny image things which has little to do with reality. In UK, the image is excellence in engineering, long trouble-free life and stuff of that order to appeal to the older driver - UK Honda made a determined effort to take sales away from Volvo which fished the same pond. There was another Top Gear edition, this time involving James May who told the other two that he had found a cool Honda [snorts of derision from Clarkson] He tested his belief by taking it to Eastbourne which is the capital of blue-rinsedom and asked members of a bowling club [a blue rinse game] if they would buy this car. They all found fault and said "no". May was delighted because it proved his belief that he had found a cool Honda. Its all in perception and reputation, not the real world. Just what marketing people rely on.

I read in another thread where a (edited for the sake of politeness) person rides a scooter in the summer. Great.
It really makes me wish I had not washed my car this morning.
Last night a scooter driver hit the passenger side bumperand taillight-quarter panel on the valdeez. I'll take pics of the damage and post them tomorrow-it's kinda ok fixable. I know it was a scooter because of the paint color and height of the damage-scooter handlebar high on the light/qtrpanel, with scooter frontfender print on bumber of car.
The part that will be missed is the faceprint that was on the back glass![:@] Oh, dang I wish I had taken a pic! You could see the mouth, eye, and profile clearly where the a$$h*les face first made contact and the smudge that extended up toward the passenger window. Totally hilarious.
It doesn't matter that I did not find out until this morning, becausea.)the scooter person got the worst of it I'm sure, and b.) scooters do not have insurance and I do not feel like going to court over a scratch n dent collision.
I was parked on the left side of a one way street that has parking on both sides and is long and straight-perfect to tempt drunken tourists to race their rented scooters.
FRIENDS DON'T LET FRIENDS RIDE SCOOTERS
What scooters and fat chicks have in common?

Hang on ! You allow motor vehicles on public roads without insurance - that's got to be wrong.
Scooter - are we talking about the same thing ? Two wheels, small engine with an exhaust note like a prolonged fart ?
Madness !

Yes, as in moped/scooter. The infernal contraptions are rented to tourists by the thousands. When my coworkers leave I'll post the pics I took today. Business is brisk, so I've been out for a couple days. More later.

Mind, I still have a wistful fondness for two wheels. First bike at 16 years + 2 weeks old was a huge BSA which was built before I was born. I REALLY learned how to strip bike engines on that one. Then followed a succession of BSA, Triumph, Norton, etc. Finally hung up the crash helmet at 48 years old. Big resurgence of bikes here. They gather in gangs in the Dales villages - great bike riding country, all narrow twisty hilly stuff. Funny thing is when they remove their helmets, they are all 50+ year old accountants and doctors.
I think scooters are deathtraps.

Late pics.
The passenger side taillight got cracked on the left edge, and the metal on to the right of it is dented.
The bumper has a big scuff and the reflector is sticking out.
It's kinda rainy so I didn't take pics of the driver's side, which got it night before last, on the same street.
Yes, they are deathtraps. So are motorcycles. I rode for several years before I got struck from behind by a car. It sucked bad.So I no longer ride much. And besides, in the car I can drink, smoke, and jam the tunes[8D]!
