POST YOUR Mileage
Had to have the brake lines done on my '99 Accord 5MT. Like your Geo, mine was affected by salt. Also with a vehicle that's 20 years old, there's not just mileage but age is a concern, materials deteriorate over time. It doesn't surprise me the brake lines needed to be done, the fuel lines should be replaced also. While it was on the lift the mechanic showed me - but the silver lining to the situation is in his opinion other than the brake/fuel lines the frame and rest of the car was decent. Helped to reinforce the decision to put money into the car. The kid working on the vehicle on the lift behind mine said he'd like to find one like mine. I told him I settled on a 1999 since used Accords with the 5MT are very rare around here, but I don't regret buying this last September one bit.
I complimented a friend on his choice of a 5MT on his new(er) VW Jetta. Showed him mine - he said that's a great design year for Honda. I agreed, basic but still stylish today. Some of these newer vehicles are so over designed with extreme angles, additional lines, indents, etc.

In 2015 I replaced both fuel and brake lines on my wife's 2000 Accord, as they were OE and crusty. That plastic tray piece got damaged trying to remove it, but that's understandable. It's all been good to go since, and we've even taken it to Texas twice (a very nice road trip car)., and got 27mpg at 80mph with the A/C and cruise control on.

This late spring, I did the brake lines on my 99 Accord 5 spd MT. Someone had been in there before me, and replaced the rusty fuel lines, so I didn't have to do them too. The plastic tray came off easier, but I still had to add a couple of self tappers and some zip ties to hold it back on.
179,000 on my 07 4dr manual. Only had a bad starter, sway bar links and half shafts. Things I've done for preventive maintenance:
water pump, pvc valve, clutch (due to a squeal from the throw out), steering pump gaskets, vtec solenoid, thermo, belt spark plugs, and fluid changes.
I plan on doing water pump, timing chain, coolant flush, thermostat, temp sensors, water hoses, tensioner, belt alternator, spark plugs and tie rods at 200k.
My brother who's been a mechanic for over 30 years tell me I do too much too early but I do all the work myself so I save a lot of money so why not. Never had one of my cars leave me on side of the road and this family has many of them.

I have to agree. From a functionality/comfort point of view I'm very happy with my '19 EX-L, but I find the profile just a touch awkward - the hood has a very slightly bulbous appearance - and I think the overly "sharp" design of the front end leans a bit toward the garish, like it was designed to appeal primarily to 13-year-old Batman fanatics.
257K miles on '96 Accord EX Coupe 2.2 vtec. Bought it in '02. Engine still sounds and runs great, average 25.5mpg, and still passing smogs. Still has entire original exhaust system with the exception of the exhaust manifold. On 2nd (used) auto tranny. And something I'm amazed at is that the original alternator is still running on its original brushes; I'm on my third set of brushes on the starter motor.
Wow, now that's impressive, and good to konw. Have you owned it the entire time? Do your own maintenance?
I've begun to wonder if I'll soon have trouble finding parts for mine, but yours is "new" enough that that's not a concern.
