Default The things a parent will do to help their kid succeed

I have a 1999 Honda Accord with 190k trouble free miles. On Monday my son, his college instructor and other students in his transmission and axle class will be replacing the clutch, flywheel, rear main seal and both CV axles on my car. Sweet mother of pearl please don’t have any extra parts when you are done…

Fact of life; there are *always* extra parts when a project like this is completed. Don't believe me? Watch Doc Hollywood.

No pics yet but here is an update to my sons auto repair class progress. It's a group of 4 guys doing the work and one of them is actually a Honda tech working at our local Honda Dealer. They were able to pull the clutch and both axles last night. Both axles had multiple small tears in the boots so it's good I decided to have those replaced and he bearing in the clutch makes a lot of noise and does not spin much. They did not have time to pull the clutch apart so I'll know more on Wednesday night. I'm feeling pretty good about all this work being done and it's nice there is an actual Honda tech leading the way.

Work is done...woo-hoo. All the work done on the car replaced original parts to the car. Both CV axles boots had some small tears in the boot, the rear main seal had a small leak, the flywheel looked good but had some heat scoring, the clutch was well worn but the Honda tech said I could've gotten another 30k miles on it and the clutch bearing was definitely bad. I'm good for another 200k.

I called my independant Honda repair shop I've been going to since 1993 and they told me what to buy.

Auto Parts Warehouse:Great price and free shipping.
Exedy HCK1000 clutch kit $115.00
Sachs NFW 3607 flywheel $67.00

PepBoys:
A1 Cardone remanufactured CV Axles $197 w/core, received $102 back for cores.
Castrol GTX 5w-30

Honda Dealer:
Rear main seal $14
Manual Transmission fluid
Oil Filter
Crush washers for oil and transmission
