Since we just had a baby we have about $2,000 worth of medical bills to pay off. Then we have around $2,000 worth of credit card debt.
The refund yall are referring to covers 2006, not 2007 I've been told. If it covered 2007 I would be eligible for $1500 since I got a wife and baby. But for 2006 it will be $1200 (you get an extra $300 per kid)
For 2007 I am going to meet with my CPA on Monday. We should get a hefty return since both myself and my wife claimed "0".Tax deductibleitems for 2007:
10k mortgage interest alone
Tons of medical bills
A new Baby (yes she was born in November but we get to claim her for the whole year)
My wife did continuing education that cost over $10k as well

If we don't get a fat refund I'm firing my CPA. We were going to use the refund on new floors and maybe a new recliner, but I think we would rather get out of debt and save the rest.
I am still skeptical about the refund everyone is supposed to get. Supposedly the governementwill just mail a check to everybody? I am also going to ask my CPA about that one. I smell BS. I won't believe it till I see a check in my mailbox.

OMG. That would be savage the govt is expecting peolple to spend their tax rebate before they would get it, and then the govt would just change their minds and never mail them out. lol

Fed just cut rates another half a percent.

GDP grew .6 percent in 2007 so I guess we are not in a recession just in a very sluggish economy.

If you don't see at least $4000 I'd get a new cpa.... 2 working adults, 0 deductions with a dependant and massive write-offs....

As for sluggish economy that's an understatement in my opinion.... A lot of mortgage companies, car lots etc are doing about 1/4 of the sales for this month that they saw last year in January... People have just stopped spending as much money for one reason or another, which is bizzare because our un-employment rate around here is the best it's ever been I believe... Business are offering 2-3 hundred dollar sign on bonuses just to get an employee! Fricken Wendy's fast food is offering $200 sign on bonus for an entry level position and still having a hard time filling the jobs...

If the tax refund bill passes you should get $300 from that alone...
