Default Why do tints look darker on white cars ?

I notice that tints look darker on white cars. I use to have a white Mitsubishi Galant 2002, with a beige interior. I had 20% tints all around it, and I use to get pulled over a lot. I have to admit it did look really dark from the outside, it almost looked 5%. Now I have a black Honda Accord 2003 LX, with the same kind of interior. I have The back window 5% tint, the two rear door windows 20% and so are the two front. But what I don't get is why does it look clearer inside. Even in the night time it does not look as dark as my white mitsubishi use to look like. I notice white cars with the tints make the windows look darker as appose to black car with beige interiors. I'm not sure what's the deal here. At first I thought, the guy installed the wrong paper. I took it to someone else, and it was 20% and it still look the same. Any explanation to why the white one windows look darker than the black car I have now ?

Well white does bring out black really well that is why when you have a white car and u hit a black car it would be easier noticed than if you had a black car. Black car with black tint looks sick and you wont get pulled over as easily with darker tint on a black car.

Thanks, I never thought of that. Yea,and black cars do look nice with tints. I was actually thinking about throwing in the rims and removing the two front tints and just changing the two rear door windows to 5% like the back window. I, sometimes think some cars look nice without the tints depending on the exterior.

I would say that a white car's background against the tint offers a higher contrast visually than a darker colored car would...
