okay, first of all, the 94-97 accords never came with black interior. So, this means it will all have to be custom done. TASAuto.com can get you black carpet. The seats will have to be recovered. The dash will either have to be dyed, or re-vinyled. The center console can be painted. Use Krylon Fusion as it bonds with plastic. Probably not what you wanted to hear, but the sad truth.

yeah i knew that they didnt come with black. im just askin for anything that is black int. and i found carpet for 113.00 online so thats not a problem. but as for the getting the dash re-vinyled, do you know any places that would be able to do that? like would i have to go to a specialty shop to get that done? and as for the headliner, whats the deal with that? would that have to be custom too? and the Krylon paint will work with any of the plastics in the car? for example, the door runners...on th bottom, will it work for that? thanks for the help!

a good upholstry shop can recover your dash i'm sure, but you'll probably pay alot if you don't remove it yourself first. The headliner will need to be recovered as well, also can be done by a shop. The Fusion will work on all hard plastics. They need to be prepped correctly to ensure a long lasting finish. It will not work on soft plastic parts like dash, upper door panel or door pulls.

I painted this entire console with Krylon fusion, plastic pieces, bondo, mdf, everything. Still looks like that too.

okay, you'd have to remove the dash yourself (which is a pain) then you strip off the existing vinyl on it, then take it to be recovered. Orrr, you can tape up all around it very well and get some vinyl dye(not paint!) and do it. Either way, it's a big undertaking, which is why I have put mine off. lol

to prep plastic pieces, here's what I do. I take out all the pieces to be painted. I wash them good with car soap and water, after they dry, I wipe them completely down with regular rubbing alcohol (this remove any oils or protectants). I let that dry. You can lay down a primer if you want, totally up to you. Then I paint.

not sure about the cost to do the dash, might want to check a few shops in your area, tell em what you want, and go from there.

I'm in the same boat. I'm not a fan of the light tan on the lower interior pieces It gets dirty WAY to easy.

A dash is no fun to pull out. I have no idea what they are like on an accord but I had a 96 civic that I took the dash out of. That was a pain in the behind. We had the whole dash apart and there were still some points that were holding that didnt want to come out. We wound up very carefully cutting it out with a disc grinder.

I have heard of two ways to re-color the vinyl. Flex paint (Still researching) And vinyl dye as the others said. There is a guy who goes by the name of "Datamancer" who does a lot of mods to just about everything. I'm trying to get a hold of him at the moment to see what he used.

The Krylon fusion is actually exactly what I am looking for to re-paint the lower pieces black(Thanks dfaulkner).

The carpets you can actually buy fabric dye for at autoparts stores (Probably a bad idea on the seats unless someone can confirm that it wont ever bleed) or use Rit dye.

The seats of an accord seem to be an easy re-cover. I am going to be attempting this myself. I plan on buying a material with a really low spandex count to keep the stitching from busting out. You can actually keep the stock lines and dimples in the seating with a curved needle. I have used the curved needles for any seat work i have done, it makes it so much easier.

As for where to buy parts? Ebay or get lucky at your local junk yard. I recently did and spent about $10 a door pannel. If you are coloring it black, you should not have any issues with the donor colors having to match.

Why dont we keep in touch as we go through this project? It seems like we both need the ideas.
