I was cleaning out my engine bay of all the years of gunk when I noticed something strange. There were these two dangling cylinders near the accessory belts. "What the heck?!", says I. Upon investigation they were the AC relays that had decided not to be clipped into their holder. One relay was in fine condition and I assume went to the fan (which works perfectly) the other had a deep groove in it and, upon dis-assembly, was totally trashed. This trashed relay went to the compressor (which would not engage the clutch under any circumstances).

In summary, I need a relay!

Hi Adler...take that picture to your Local AutoZone store and get a new one that will work..you can go on their we site and look it up and see a picture of it there and of course the price..

Would you believe that my local part source wanted over $100 for the dinky relay?!? I was expecting more like $10, I didn't buy it there. I was kind of hoping someone would have one lying in their parts bin that they would part with cheaply. I don't like ordering from businesses in the states, shipping is killer.

 

Ive been thinking (often bad).
This is a relay, there is nothing special about this relay. Why can't I use any ordinary relay with 4 pins and make it work?
