Default Looking at buying a 99 Accord 5 spd

I'm looking at buying a late 90's Honda Accord and wanted to read about the Accord from people who own them.

Without having to do an extensive search are there any issues with 1999 5 speed Honda's?

Thanks

I've got a 2000 LX 4door 5spd which is identical to a 98 or 99 LX 4door 5spd. I love it. I get about 32 miles per gallon city driving. The Vtec will get up & go pretty quick too. Performance parts are fairly cheap. I am going to be adding a short ram intake soon and possibly a 4-2-1 Header when I have about $160 to spare.
Just remember one thing. The timing belt needs to be changed at about 104k miles. I am having mine changed as soon as my tax returm comes in and it is going to cost me about $500for the timing belt, seals, and water pump to be changed. If you don't know anybody who will cut you a deal on the job,a dealership can charge up to $800for the service.

yes there is. the 1998-2002 trannys have had many problems.. what honda did was extend the transmission warrenty to like 7 years or 109k miles (so only valid on 2001 models and under 109k miles)
i have a 2000 coupe i4 auto and i dont have any problems so far..

at the top of the page, check out the TSBs (technical service bulletins)

That problem waswith the auto trans. He says he wants a 5 spd. There are no problems with the 5 spd that I have ever heard of.

I ended up buying a 2001 Honda Accord EX 2.3L 5 speed with leather interior, moonroof, etc....

The drive is real nice although the road noise is a little more than I'm used to since two of my vehicles are a Ford Ranger truck and a Ford E350 15 passenger van.

The MPG of the Honda more than makes up for the road noise.

And the leather interior feels like I'm in my own private jet.
