Recommendation Needed--which yr for a commuter car - SoCal

Hi all

I am looking to get a used Accord for commuting LA-OC..

I am thinking 4 cylinder and an auto tranny...

I want to spend as little as is reasonable...say 5k-9k all-in.

Any recommendations as to the model year I should target?

Don't get a 98-02 Auto, the transmissions are garbage and have a high failure rate. For that price, you could probably get a decent mileage 03-07 auto 4cyl LX Accord, or a great quality 98-02 4 cyl EX 5 speed, but with Cali traffic, the manual is probably not your first choice.

Also, the 5th generation (94-97) Accords are very reliable, but probably not as "up to date" as you want.
