Living in Buffalo is an Adventure
#41
There are several people that I know that went the way of the NG backup generators. Mostly older folks, or people with medical needs get them. From what I have heard, they work flawlessly. Most residences here have a Natural Gas line, so the setup would cost most $2500-$3500.
The only thing I haven't "spec'd" out is the cost of running the line from the street to the house. They send letters every now and then and state they will "help" with that cost if I switch "something(s)" to NG. I'd do the water heater without thought - it came with the house when we bought it ~10 years ago. So if I could get the back up unit, gas line pulled and new gas water heater for $4k~$5k....I'm in.
