As my questions will attest, I haven't much knowledge of auto suspension. All I know is that I want a sportier more stable ride in my 2008 Accord V6. I was looking at the Eibach 4082.140 Pro-Plus kit and some Koni 8041-1406's/1407's. My goal isn't as much to lower the car as it is to get a firmer, more stable ride. Can a set up be had where the car isn't lowered by the inch spec'ed by Eibach? I'm also confused by the term "coilover". Isn't my choice of lowering springs and shocks a coilover system or am I missing something? It's probably the latter I'm sure.

 

Your coils are "over" the shocks, but the term "coilover" normally means something more specific. They're sleeves that can be threaded up & down to adjust ride height.

I'll move this over to the suspension area where you'll probably get better answers.

 

prepare to spend a min of $500 for a decent set up. If you don't have that much to spend stay stock.
I would look into FULL coilover set ups. Function & Form is a fav. brand of mine.
You can adjust your ride hight to w/e you like. If you get lowering springs after they settel if you don't like the ride hight then your kinda SOL.
Also putting lowering springs or coilover sleeves on OEM struts will blow out within weeks

Oh, I'm aware of the cost. Right now, I'm looking at $1500 which includes the Koni's, Eibach springs and alignment kit. As for Coilovers, then, with a set of those, I wouldn't need a set of springs since there are springs (coils) already there? Oh I know about using LS or CS on OEM struts. I like the Koni's because their stiffness can be adjusted. Is there hardware that would turn those Koni's into coilovers?

 

What's the difference (besides price) between Type I and Type II coilovers?
