Post Shocks / Springs Suggestions

Hey Guys. I'm looking into replacing my shocks and possibly springs for my car. I'm thinking of lowering the car but not too much if any at the moment. But definitely want to get the shocks replaced.
I have been looking into KYB / Koni shocks but not sure which ones to go for. Also don't wanna spend a ton load of money on 'em. I know the the KYB GR2's are relatively cheap and the KYB AGX's are $400 and are adjustable.
Koni shocks, I've heard are awesome as well but just wanted to get your opinion before I proceeded on getting anything.

Also, do you think its worth lowering the car. I know its got a nice visual appeal to it but also dont' really want to deal with the non-smooth ride.

Thx

I probably can't help, but you might want to tell us whether it's a 1977 Accord or a 2009 Accord or a 72 Pinto or what...

Attached are the pics. As you can see, in the front, there is a significant gap. The reason why there is not as much gap in the back is because of the subs/sub-box/amps which are quite heavy.
So just wanted to know your suggestions whether or not I should get springs.
