Default 2000 Accord EX Winter Tire Question (Fitment Issue)

Hi guys,

great site here with tons of information. Just had a couple of questions.

I have a 2000 Accord EX (Canadian Version).

I am currently running the following tires and rims on the vehicle and would like to purchase snow tires and steelies:

195/65/R15

I'm working if I could run with a new set of R14 steelies:

195/70/R14

The reason I ask is because the cost for the lower size R14 ends up being about 200 bucks less. These are winter tires so I dont care about asthetics at all.
(just worried that if the rim size is too low that the tires will not fit over my brakes.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I wouldn't go down in size due to handling issues. Michelins work well I hear. If you are shopping for snow tires check out some ratings on tirerack.com.

If you have the 4 lug wheels and tires which I think you have , then the answer is yes..if you dont , then the answer is no...

going down in size is preferable with winter tires, as it results in a taller tire (and thinner). smaller contact patch, better for digging through snow
