Default 2005 55 plate Accord Tourer

Hi,

I currently have a compression kit in place of a spare tyre, which I'm happy with for a backup for day to day driving around town. I'm am however a little apprehensive about driving to France this year (from Glasgow), so I'm planning on buying a tyre for this trip only. The space savers seem expensive, cheapest I see would be £115 used from an on-line breaker.

If I went for a bog standard steel rim from a part worn place would;

1. This fit in the boot
2. Would i lose the entire under boot compartment
3. What size should i look for if this fitted

Thanks for any help in advance.

Dave

Since our USA Accord is a different car, I can only suggest in general terms.

In the USA Accord, a full-size wheel-tire will fit, but no room for the little tool-kit thing. Plus I think it lifts the trunk-floor-board a few mm.

You could look for a narrower tire, so it would NOT go together with your other tires as you rotate your tires. It would be dedicated to use as a spare. Look for a wheel-tire from a 2007 Civic (give or take a couple years). The rim is narrower, the tire is narrower, but it should bolt up and be usable as a spare. With mis-matched sizes, I wouldn't take it to a racetrack with that tire installed... :-)

Hi,

thanks Jim, that's exactly what i wanted to know, the spare would be for this trip only and not for general use, so a missmatch with the other rims would not really be a big issue.

Many thanks again.
