Default 2010 accord TPMS sensor broken

Anybody know what to do with a broken TPMS sensor. Somehow the valve stem broke off (rock, neighbor kid??). Honda wants $150 for a new sensor and to program it. What a rip off!!!

Does anyone know if this can be done at a local shop. I have called several and got different answers from all of them. The consensus seems to be that they can break the bead and put in the sensor and that it should work without having to be programmed. I can buy the sensor at https://www.conicellihondaparts.com/...ord-parts.html for $20.

Any help would be appreciated!!

Also, just for future reference does anyone know what the lifespan of the sensors is? Do they need to be replaced after so many years. At $150 a pop that is a significant bill!! I wouldn't really care about the light being on if they didn't work, but you are disabled from turning off the VSA system if the TPMS light is on. Living in Minnesota, that could be a problem if you get stuck in the snow and need to spin your tires.....
