Winter Tires and TMPS
Simple Question, I hope...
Just got a set of Winters and Rims for my 2008 EX-L Accord. My question is about TMPS, as once I started to drive home the TMPS indicator came on. So my question is can I drive like this or will this cause me an issue since the VPS system can no longer be turn off. Or can I turn the TMPS system off for the Winter, this way the car would work normally?? Last if I need to get a set of TMPS for my Winters where and what's the cost... PS I live in Southern Ontario Canada.
Any help, suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks

First you have to make sure that your tire inflation is correct. Then the manual should have a TPMS reset proceedure. This should be done whenever you change the tires or rotate them.

RE: Winter Tires and TMPS
I'm wondering how you resolved the TPMS problem. I have an 08 Accord EX L and wanted to put winter tires and rims on. I found out that I'd have to buy TPMS sensors for the new tires as well, plus every time I change the tires it would cost approx $70 to re program the sensors. Without sensors I've been told that safety features may not operate properly, ie vehicle stability control. So now I'm looking at just buying tires and switching to existing rims.

well tbh, we fix the senosors for free(reset), and all the tpms dose is if it sense the tire pressure low it trips a light on the dash that comes on, and yes, sensors cna run form 100$ a piece to up to $400

My father-in-law owns a Trailblazer SS. We got him snow rims and tires, and the TPMS just stays lit during the time he has the snows on. The car drives fine, stability and traction systems work well. The only danger is that you have to check the tires yourself, as the system cannot tell you whether or not the tires does not have enough pressure. If you want to avoid this, then you do have to buy the sensors, which again, can get expensive. I would just get the winter set-up and just let the light be during the winter months.

dont know, but i know that its required on all vechiles 08' and later, and the only reason they have them is so that if low tire presure, or negelcte of car matinece leads to an accident, you cant say, "oh i must have not realised my tires were that low"
