Car died on highway, now cranks but won’t start – injection pump not powered
Hi everyone,
I’m looking for some advice about a 1997 Honda Accord 2.2 diesel. The car won’t start, and the seller says the injection pump is not getting power. A professional checked the pump and said it is working fine.
The engine cranks normally, but it won’t start. There are no warning lights on the dashboard.
The problem started while driving on the highway — the engine began to sputter and then shut off completely.
Another important detail: if you tap or hit a control unit or module near the injection pump, the car sometimes starts again, but it won’t accelerate properly.
This makes me think it could be an electrical issue (wiring, relay, ground, or fuel shut-off solenoid), but I’m not sure.
Has anyone experienced something similar or knows where to start diagnosing this problem?
Any help would be greatly appreciated, thank you!
