Heads up ---- I've got an '08 Accord Coupe (EX-L 6spd V6) that quickly developed a paint chip where the passenger-side front bumper skin meets the fender. The chip has been repaired 4 times and keeps returning. Well, this last time, Honda of Thousand Oaks (CA) called and said that the issue has escalated all the way up to Honda Corporate and apparently a design flaw has been identified in how the front bumper attaches to the body (no clearance at the upper part of the seam causing undue contact during bumper skin flex).

All you '08 coupe owners should carefully inspect the seam in question. My coupe is white and shows IMMEDIATELY and may not with darker colors. From what I understand, Honda has established a procedural fix covered under warranty and they're implementing it on my car (the guinea pig) ....

Nice of you to share. I agree a picture would be most helpful.

Ok, this pic is a macro shot (very close) and exaggerates not only the chip but the crappy work thatwas initially done on my car (fender paint is marred). Believe me I let them know in no uncertain terms that I will not tolerate further damage to my vehicle and I must say that Honda of Thousand Oaks has gone out of their way with mein making this right; it was their choice of body shop that was less than stellar but to be fair they struggled mightly trying to align the skin when it couldn't be done without corporate intervention. I've yet to get the car back and willreport when I do.

The seam tightens as it approaches the headlamp and it does soon EVERY '08 coupe on the dealer's lot and in fact every '08 according to corporate.

I just went and checked mine and I have it on both sides. They are both still small, but I can see them. I would not have noticed it without the heads up and picture as a reference.

The paintwas chipping off of the plastic bumper skin on my car (see pic above). I guess it could just as easily happen to the metal bumper since it's the contact point of both that causes the problem. I just got my car back and the seam is still tight but it's now holding up (no chip re-developing). Man I love this car even tho it has me making poor driving decisions. Like driving 130 down the California backcountry and LOVIN' it! The difference between the man 6spd with hi-perf intake and minus the ACM and the standard auto coupe is AMAZING! ....
