Default HID and Car Warranty

Hey Guys

If I upgrade my 07 Accord Sedan's original headlights to HID headlights (Just bulbs and ballast), will it void the car warranty? I am asking because the stock headlights do not output alot and its getting pretty dark now (Eastern USA). What particular set should I purchase? I want something with quality and I do not mind paying reasonable money for them.

Will adding HID's melt any headlight housing components?

Thanks

Will it void the warranty? Best to ask the salesman, or sales dept. of where you bought your car. Those types of things can be differnt from place to place.

What set to buy? Any set of ebay is fine, the company i went with is euro designs. But there all the same thing.

Will HIDs melt housings? Nope. Ive had mine in for several months now and have been on several trips. 2Hrs+ and no sign of melting/burning/over heating.

I did a quick search for HID with our search function and found some helpful threads. They should be able to answer any other questions you might have:

I'd say just get a set of Sylvania Silverstar lights and try those first, you may be plenty happy with their light output then there is nothing to worry about on warranty issues etc. And they are probably cheaper.

Unless the HID's cause a problem like causing a short that kills your battery and/or alternator, the Moss-Magnusen Act has your warrantee covered. It basically says that the manufacturer is responsible to prove that the aftermarket part has caused the problem at hand.

A lot of people worry about melting fixtures with HID's. Heat is caused by power (Wattage). HID's use less power than stock bulbs, so they produce less heat. For bulb options, PIAA's put out a bit more light than Silverstars, but are also expensive. I love my HID's and will likely install them on any vehicle that I own.

Short Story: One of my friends has a CBR 1000 Repsol that blew apart its alternator. He rebuilt it only to have it die a month later. He swapped the headlight with an HID kit to reduce power draw and has not had a problem since.
