Default Hood caves in/collapses into itself

My hood has a couple of dents, no big deal, but right in the middle of it the hood loses its shape and it caves in, at time i pop it back in shape but it happens again. i don't know what to do. is this a replacing it matter or can it be fixed?

If i had to replace it i hae the option of a marron or a grey, which one would be easier to paint green? thanks

Popping the metal like that makes it less strong. The problem will only worsen over time.

As far as painting, it shouldnt matter b/c you should sand it down anyways.

are you planning on spray painting it with aerosol cans?? Real auto painting requires the right paint and hardener, plus a spray gun, air compressor, tons of sandpaper, body filler, more sanding, painting, sanding again. Harbor freight sells paint guns that are cheaper and pretty much "one use only" because they'll clog.

i agree with finch to make it look really nice you need the expenive way of doing it. if you dont care about dents you dont have to worry about the body filler.. sand with 320 then 400 then put your color down then your clear. then buff it to make it look all pretty like. if you decide to use a gun dont just jump in do reaserch on how to spray with it. i took a month long class on that and i still have a hard time with it somedays. im not the best at it. but it looks a lot better

ok, so just to clarify. it isnt recommended to use spray cans for the job? because that was my plan.

now, let me see if i have the steps right:
clean the hood, sand it down (by this, should i totally remove the existing paint and get it down to metal?)
clean hood again.
at this point im confused, do i now paint the hood, use body filler or use primer. can someone please walk me tru. thanks.

its all in the prep work prior to painting. the sanding , filler and resanding, filler and resanding is a job for the experieced if you want perfection.

again the better this part of the job is done, the better the paint job will be.
