Hood latch cable issues/ Hood wont latch

Default Hood latch cable issues/ Hood wont latch
Hello all, I got a 97 accord and the latch lever that pulls the cable popped out and seems to be keeping the hood latch in the open position. any ideas how to fix this? this is what it looks like now, i tried pushing it back in but its stubborn.
