My Accord, is kind of old, but it works. The lever to pop the hood however is not working right. It takes a ton of force to open and it has already broken off the top plastic mount. The bottom is starting to show stress fractures and I need to do something. I tried wd 40 on it just to see if it would help, but no luck. What do you guys think?

 

take it off and install some hood pins?
my friends dad did that on an old mazda 323 he had.

 

take the latch portion off that holds the hood closed and clean it with parts cleaner to loosen it up.

 

There was a post recently on another forum about a small rubber or plastic plug that could be removed from the latch plate that allowed access to release the latch w/ a screw driver through the grill. You might want to look carefully at the latch and in necessary determine where a hole needs to be to allow access to release from grill entry.
