Default White Paint? DIY or not?

I have a white Honda Accord and I recently purchased a front lip and a spoiler. I was wondering if I really should bother going down to a shop to have them both painted white or should I do it myself. People say that it's easy to paint something if it's simply white or black or something plain, no mixes involved. What are the pros and cons of doing it myself and how much does the amount of paint required cost in order to do it? Do I need to prime it or sand it and such? Or is it just straight spray painting.

If anyone knows the exact steps that a professional takes to do the paint job, then I can determine from those if I'm capable of doing it myself or if it's worth it or not. Thanks.

On a professional job they will clean and prep the surface (usually some VERY light sanding) then once it's all ready to go and COMPLETELY free of dirt/dust (one little speck of dirt can screw up a lot) they will spray it with a primer coat or two, then let that dry and spray it with the actual paint and let that dry (sometimes multiple applications here as well) then a clear coat...

If your bumper is plastic make sure you rough up the surface a little bit (like a 220 grit sand paper) then wash and clean it VERY well, get spray paint that works on plastic, apply about 2 coats of primer (3 if you think you need it) in the fasion that the can indicates, then apply a couple of coats of paint very evenly... If you do it right and take your time then it can come out looking VERY nice, just be certain that the shade of white you have matches your car before you start painting the bumper...

I'd pay someone to do it if I were going to keep it for awhile, but that's me.

Yeah, on most paint jobs, the basic is sanding and getting all specks like dirt off. Then applying various coats of paint.

To me it sounds pretty basic, buti would not go thru the troubles. I usually rather pay the money and be certain tht it will look good or better than what i would have done.

I'm not sure how much but my cousin said he'd hook me up. For a price range, the professional said he'd repaint my cousin's entire rear bumper for $50. His car is a 97 eclipse and is a neon orange like. So white (my car's color) should be no problem at all.
