ORIGINAL: t00fatt

My girlfriend has an iPod and a griffin iTrip fm transmitter. We tried it in my car, and just how regular radio stations don't sound like CD quality, the iPod transmitted over FM sounded worse. Sure the song was playing and sounded acceptable for a stock system, but not acceptable for an aftermarket system. If money is a huge huge problem, then go with the FM transmitter. If you can't tell the differance between a CD or the radio, go for the FM transmitter. I'm actually going to be selling my AUX interface when I get my new headunit. I am going to sell it here on the forums, I don't care about getting the money back so much so I'll prolly sell it for $70 shipped, and its been in my car for about a week now and I still have all the original packaging.
Assuming it will work on my 07, I'll call dibs on the AUX interface.

Well then thats why I cant tell...because I have a stock stereo. But how does it hiss? The transmitter is 5 feet from the antenna...theres not much that can interfere with the transmitter and the antenna.

By hiss I mean background noise. It should be extremely quiet during the quiet parts of the songs, or between tracks. I have heard what I would call a hiss, others would call it white noise, during these periods. Its kinda of similar to a good audio-cassette, if you are old enough to remember those. haha.

Yea I used to have cassettes...cds put cassettes six feet underground just like how xm put fm underground and slaughtered 8 track and chopped it into pieces. But I don't get enough hissing(and haven't really noticed it)to get pissed off and spend another hundred bucks for better quality...

Fair enough. That's why they make different lines of products...

Like Hondas and Chevys...

Theres always the option of buying an aftermarket radio with an AUX input built in. That would be the same price if not cheaper than just a soley based AUX input. My radio was $74 and has an AUX input and I love it! Plus, like you mentioned sometimes it sounds quieter so it has this feature where you can increase the level of the input, its not the volume, but it just makes it louder. Then you can use the volume. Its hard to explain! Its like there are two volumes somewhat.

That's a good point. In my 88 Accord, I put in a Dual (brand name) deck. It was like 80$, but it had mp3 capabilities as well as an aux input. Not bad. Sounded decent too (I replaced the 2 door speakers as well).

If you can't tell the difference between CDs and the radio if you get a good transmitter you should be satisfied. Although to me the radio sounds horrible. If you have subs or amped speakers your going to lose some bass, especially the real lows. You could just buy it from a local store, and if you don't like it return it.

I have seen a lot of discussion on some of the other Honda forums and it seems the consensus is the USA-SPEC box is the preferred solution here.

It gives you factory control of the ipod as well as another option for direct ipod control.
