ive done some research on the amp my friend let me borrow and everybody says its over-rated and doesnt putt out anywhere near as to where Quantum says it does. Should I take the chance of wiring it to 2 ohm to get the extra watts?

 

I really don't know. Maybe, you can find out how much power it can put out. But if this is just a temporary amp I would just leave it how you have it. It will be easier on the amp and the sub.

 

im being offered a JL 500/1 amp for 200 bucks. should i go with it and sell my Quantum. I wired it down to 2 ohm, which the amp claims to put out 1500 watts at 2 ohm (reviews say this amp is overrated). the JL ratings are at 500 wrms.

 

Yea that amp is around 1000w at 2 ohms. I would pick it up in a heartbeat if it is in fact a slashv2, the v1 are older but may still have the same power rating. That amp will still be a bit more power than your L7 wants, but it will take it. It needs to be in a sealed box if your going to overpower it. I would do it.
