2000 Accord Antenna Ponderings

I have a 2k accord and i put a 2nd new head unit in. I believe the antenna is that little nub hanging out of the headlineer in the back mounted to the window. I didnt bother to connect the blue (or blue/white stripe) wire(s) because i didnt have one of those mechanical antenna's. Doesn anyone know if the antenna is powered (like boosted) and needs to be connected? i know some are like in altimas and whatnot. My memory sucks and i cant tell if the reception is flakier when i'm in the mountains than what it used to be or not.
It's passive. The blue wire has nothing to do with it. If it were boosted, it would use an accessory power lead. The blue wire is only a remote and is not intended to power anything. It only provides an on-off signal. If you were to power anything with the blue remote wire, I'd expect damage to the head unit.
Reception can vary from one unit to another even though you are using the same antenna. If you want better reception, I'd recommend a satelite radio with a hard wired modulator ...... or even better, hooked to an auxiliary input.
