Default 2003 Accord LX head unit

Like so many others on here I REALLY want to upgrade my stereo. I think the Metra kit looks like *** and I'm really not fond of giving up the door on my lower storage area. SO, I'm taking a risk. I just bought a complete stereo/climate control assembly for $80. My plan is to remove everything and modify the panel to accept a regular single-DIN receiver. I did something similar to this in my 93 RX7 and it turned out pretty good. But I have some questions, hopefully somebody can answer. The unit I bought is for DUAL climate control while my car is single. Appearance wise they look the same except for the buttons. I'm hoping I can swap the buttons for the climate control over from my panel to the new one after the mods are complete. Anyone out there know if this will work?

tough question - and a unique situation. your best bet would be to swap the entire control unit over.

Sure I'll have to swap the control unit because the dual is definitely not compatible with my single zone wiring. Perhaps I wasn't clear...I was trying to determine if the openings in the panels were the same size/shape on the dual and the single. I'm hoping they are the same size or smaller on the dual zone panel when compared to the single zone panel. Guess I can find out tomorrow cause that is when it is scheduled for delivery.
