Default 2004 accord with Sat Nav stereo options

Hi all, first of all thanks for the forums and resources.

I've had a 2004 accord LX the last 5 years I paid 250$ for, loved it. Just got another 2004 accord v6, absolutely loaded with options, as a payment for a day's worth of car work, big score, accord for life it seems.

Problem is it has factory sat nav, and I would like to put a budget stereo in it. I have a set of front and rear speakers In the mail, and I don't expect the stock unit to power them well.

I've read different things on here about sat nav and climate control issues when putting a new stereo in. The car is not very valuable to me, and I've read replacing the whole setup up top can be expensive, and it's best to just use your cubby for a new stereo, double din ideally for me.

While I like the cubby, I will sacrifice it if it saves hundreds and a headache.

So I guess me question is, is it best for a budget build on a sat nav equipped accord, to just add use the cubby spot for a double din head unit, and keep stock climate controls.

Hope this wasn't too long winded, thanks all.
