RE: 2005 Radar Detector Buyer's Guide
I was aware of the existence of radar detector detectors, but as the article states, the bell and the valentine one are both pretty good at hiding from them, and I've also heard that they only really care if you have one in a commercial vehicle... that's a big no-no... also, the valentine one has a remote indicator so the main unit may be hidden in the dash of your car and the indicator can be mounted discreetly... I'm curious if the laser jammers could be hidden inside the bumper - anybody know about that? Either way, is the penalty worse for speeding, or for having a radar detector? I have been driving for 10 years now, each car getting progressively faster, and have yet to get a moving violation of any sort, all that time without a detector - it's pretty easy not to get rolled if you actually pay attention to what's going on around you. Just thought about getting a detector recently since I find myself driving a lot faster these days in me new car.[:'(]

Fine for having dedector is not a moving violation like a speeding ticket and won't count against your insurance.
Been running hardwired V1s for many years and don't like driving without them. They won't prevent you from getting tickets but their use combined with situational awareness can sure cut the odds way down.
Mine have paid for themselves many times over!!

Radar jammers are illegal and it's a felony. Laser jammers/shifters are only illegal in certain states.
