I too thought about doing it, but I ended up installing my tweeters in the door panels, just in front of the pull handles.

Not sure if you can fit them in the stock position.

The tweeter holes in the dash are just that - holes. Its not easy to mount a tweeter in there at all.

I did however, but I used a mounting cup that is for mounting my components coaxially. It looks basically like a mushroom and the tweeter mounts down inside it. This was a perfect fit.

Since I got the 2 speaker system, my stock tweeter grill wasnt actually a grill. Its a solid piece. I thought of drilling out the holes but thats a lot of work so I cut a hole in the panel and then wrapped it with grill cloth. Works pretty well.

As for mounting the tweeters next to the midrange drivers, that is the best way in theory. However, in a car things dont always work that way. A pillar mounting is actually the best but because of side airbags you can always do that. Mounting the tweeter up high pulls the stage up to eye level as opposed to down in the floor. Mounting tweeters high is virtually a requirement for the best possible soundstage.

Imaging and focus can be affected by this but can also be fixed with a good EQ.

Before I worried about speaker placement I would first clean up the cound comming form the factory radio. Since the new accord's radios are so incorporated into the car there are two options. 1) take out the factory deck and buy a new one for $$ and then buy a kit to go back into the dash so that you can still have all the functionality of the original car for $$$. or 2) get a clean sweep by JL Audio. I recently installed on of these and it made the sound comming form the factory radio so so so so much better, almost like having an aftermarket radio. Once you do one of these two options I would wory about changing speaker locations...which MacLeod handled pretty well
[hr]*cheers* to great sounding car audio

There is a 3rd option for an aftermarket head unit. Crutchfield has a kit for $30 that replaces the storage pocket under the radio/AC panel. It looks factory and fits like a glove. The HU wont be in the most natrual position but it still works.

You can get the kit cheaper by about $5 from other places but get it from Crutchfield because they will not only send you instructions to install the kit but a Master Instruction Sheet that will tell you how to remove door panels, the AC controls and everything. Plus they send you a wiring harness that plugs into the OEM harness for an even simpler install.

Here is what it looks like with the guts hanging out.

And here is what it looks like all buttoned up.

So all in all, it would be hard to just put in new tweets in the same location as the stock ones right? and if we were able to some in..we would have to do that macleod did right?

The speakers in the 07 Accord are very cheep. When you take them out, you will see that the magnet on the speaker is less than a quarter inch thick. IT IS VERY IMORTANT to change out the car's speakers. Funny cause the man who sold me my 07 Accord raved about the speaker system. It did sound nice when I boughtthe car, but you should hear how it sounds now!!

It sounded horrible stock.

Not only are these speakers incredibly flimsy but due to their location and the way they aim, theyre also out of phase. Notice how the singers voice seems to come from everywhere?

First thing I did when I put in the aftermarket speakers was flop the polarity on the right speaker and BOOM, intant focus!
