Default 1998 accord temp gauge always at the same spot, cold or hot.

Hi, I have a 1998 honda accord, and I am worried because I don't know if the car is actually cold, or if the gauge or sending unit is not working properly. When I start the car, 5 secs later, the temp gauge raises up to about 1/4 of the way, and then it will stay there for the duration of the trip. The car does not feel hotter than normal, so I really don't know what to think. Any thoughts?
Thanks.

add'l info.
Is concern about a driveability issue (which is?) or temp measure reading alone?

How long have you owned car, how long this been happening.

w/o further info; when cold - open rad cap to make sure rad fluid is full.

to get up to normal operating temp takes the car about 2 to 3 min.so if it takes ur car 5sec.to get 1/4 i wuld check the temp sending unit

well, the car runs perfectly, when I come froma trip, and I park, I check the engine compartment, and does not feel extremely hot, the radiator has topped off fluid. Might be the sending unit, where is that located?
It's been happening since I bought the car 3 days ago. It really runs great, it's just that gauge issue.

Sensor location depends if it's a 4-cyl or V-6 engine.
